The excavator made light work of removing top soil and leveling the site. The sand formed a perfect base, and the overnight rain bedded it down nicely.

The design and construction team from CB&M: Murray, Justin and Jono, came to inspect the works and check that the excavation was in the correct place. They marked out the shed and drive, which was also excavated on the same day.

Scientists from RMIT University brought in a cherry picker for their research project. I enjoyed the view from 12m up. The boxing and plumbing are in progress. Waffle pods, used to insulate the slab are waiting to be positioned.

The waffle pods are in place and temporarily held down for the weekend.

The weather cleared up, and the concrete pour was nearly finished by 9:30am when we arrived.

Just before we headed off on another trip to the mainland, the slab was drying slowly.
