Adaptive management

We implement an adaptive management system as a way of continually improving our management of Rubicon: we use the learning we gain each year through monitoring and experiments to modify our future plans and activities.

The results of our experiments and monitoring from one year help to determine our management priorities for the following year. For example, a decline in the percentage of flowering plants in a population of a threatened Prasophyllum species may indicate the need for further disturbance.

Disturbance by slashing and/or burning removes surrounding vegetation and stimulates growth and flowering in some plant species.
